Tara Casey’s Five Goals Leads Women’s Lacrosse to a 13-6 Win Over LaSalle

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï jumped out to a 6-0 advantage 17 minutes into the contest.  Freshman Tara Casey scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Katie McVeigh.  McVeigh tallied the next three goals for the Raiders, with two coming on free position shots.  Senior captain Becky Ortolano made it 5-0 at 17:12 with a goal from Amanda Bradshaw.  ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s six-goal streak was capped by Casey’s fifth tally of the season on a free-position attempt.

 

LaSalle cut the lead to 6-2 just before the end of the half, scoring twice in the final 11 seconds.

 

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï upped its lead to 8-2 on two free position goals by freshman Brianne Tierney.  After a LaSalle goal, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï rattled off four consecutive tallies to put the Raiders up nine and seal the win.

 

The Explorers added two late goals to set the final at 13-6.

 

McVeigh finished with three goals and an assist and Tierney scored twice and added a helper

 

The Raiders are now 2-0 for the campaign.  After opening the season with two straight home games, the Raiders travel to Albany on Wednesday, March 10, for a 3 p.m. start.
